Streets & Lighting

The Town's street services include maintaining approximately 21 miles of  residential streets, along with all related sidewalks, stormwater  infrastructure, street signs, street lighting, mowing public  right-of-ways, and maintaining the Town's welcome signs. Eligible  expenses are funded by Powell Bill funding from the state that is  collected as a tax on gasoline and other street expenses are funded by  general government revenues such as property taxes.

Report a Problem

Residents can report a missing or damaged street sign or other street condition using our Online Report Form.

Street Light Repair

Residents can report an unlit, damaged, or malfunctioning street light to directly to Duke Energy using their online form.  

Street Light Request

Residents can request a street light using our online form.  Street lighting is provided to ensure traffic safety on streets within the Town limits.

Report a Pothole to NCDOT

Residents can report potholes and other road conditions to NCDOT using their online form. Most major roads in town are maintained by the NCDOT. If the road has a double yellow line, it is a state road not maintained by the Town.

Pavement Condition Assessment Report 

This report (Pavement Condition Assessment Report) will be used to develop a long-term street assessment tool to assist in scheduling the paving sequence of town maintained streets.
